Maligula psychonauts8/7/2023 Third, this gets kind of dark, but if Loboto had been an adult during the Grulovian war and its aftermath? He would have made use of it and served as a mercenary for either side. But even those who are childlike generally still reflect the time period they grew up in. This is, of course, showing how childlike he is. Despite trying to be professional, he is prone to simpler terms and common vernacular over something more scientific. He is slangy and uses contradictions, especially in Rhombus of Ruin and Psychonauts 2. Generally, if you have a character hanging around longer than one game, you generally do well to not have them be without others of that group they play off with. His story not really fitting in the theme of discovery and experimentation dashed, as what happened to him was not his fault. If Loboto was the same age as the Psychic 7, he would stand as the only elder psychic not involved in Psychonauts. Olly and Cal the most, as their trauma was never addressed and grew infected. There is a price to power and all felt its cost in different ways. The elders were the hopeful innocent times, the adults are the reality of how things can end up. And Loboto? His story is similar, his powers caused him to suffer. Sasha ran away from home, Oleander got heavily traumatized because he understood the rabbits in his father’s farm, Milla had her orphanage burn down. The psychic adults in Psychonauts all have some sort of trauma related to their psychic status. Which ended up blowing up in their faces with Lucrecia becoming Maligula. Pushing the limits and not being tied to any morality or caution. The psychic seven were the true discovery and experimentation of their powers. There are multiple reasons why, but I feel the most personal reason for me is what each generation of psychics represents. I need to be honest, I don’t buy Loboto being older than Sasha, Oleander or Milla. Often, what the author wrote has an excellent reason for being the way it is. I’m not one to easily create headcanons that are in direct opposition to the writing of the authors.
